Working yourself up the ladder can enable you to earn great money. Bear in mind, as a recent graduate only setting your foot in the door now, you won’t earn as much as someone with years in the industry. However, you can expect some pretty high salaries in your future, especially if you’re specializing in a research area or programming language.
5.Always in demand
As mentioned earlier, there are many careers to follow when specializing in information technology. As technology progresses the need for information technology professionals will only increase. And the better your skill set the more in demand your expertise will be.  With jobs being so scarce, the information technology industry continues to show a promising demand trend. Majoring in information technology will expose you to a lot of opportunities and jobs. It doesn’t matter in which field of information technology you’re specializing in, there are jobs in this industry.
Studying something you love will give you a sense of achievement. You’ll have a new way of doing things. If you’re really fascinated by the technology world, why not take it a step further? Federal Government Approves N25bn Earned Allowances For ASUU

The government said the cash was aside the N20 billion that was released in 2018 to public universities.
Adamu Adamu, the minister of education said this at his valedictory press conference in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Adamu said: “Let me inform you that the federal government has just approved an additional N25 billion to be shared to beneficiary institutions directly. Last year, the federal government released N20 billion directly to universities. As I speak, all universities have got their share of the N20 billion.
“The sad news is that the N200 billion that was released to the Central Bank of Nigeria since 2013 for the universities has not been fully accessed. In specific terms, all the 73 public varsities have accessed the 1st tranche of 50 percent of the N200 billion.
“For the second tranche of 40 percent, only 56 institutions have been able to access their funds. The last 10 percent representing the third tranche of the N200 billion has not been accessed at all.”

Oh No! Not Again. ASUU threatens strike over implementation of 2019 agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Wednesday said that its members should not be held responsible if there is any disruption in the university system, as the Federal Government had not shown commitment to carrying out the 2019 Memorandum of Action.
The ASUU National President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, stated this at a briefing in Abuja, to give an update on the ongoing renegotiation with the government and to clear the air over the N25billion confirmed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to have been approved for universities.
Ogunyemi said the N25 billion was meant to be a part-payment of the Earned Academic Allowances and should have been released between February 15 and 28, 2019, as agreed. But this was not done.
He said, “Since information on the amounts mentioned in the media went round, the ASUU has been inundated with enquiries on the union’s perspective to the story.
“Funding for the revitalisation of public universities has for years been of very high priority to ASUU.
“Reaching an agreement with the Federal Government has often been a frustrating journey for our union. It is often marked with protests, strikes and requires a conscious and focused engagement. The 2001 agreement, which gave birth to the 2009 agreement, was not an exemption. The exception here is the personality leading the government negotiation team.
“The current leadership of the government team clearly lacks the academic disposition and humility needed to undertake such task.
“Our members enjoy their work and hate to see any disruption in the smooth running of our universities. However, the level of frustration occasioned by the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards meeting the terms of the 2019 Memorandum of Action that was freely signed with our union is increasingly becoming unbearable.
“We, therefore, call on all Nigerian patriots, parents and students including the Nigeria Labour Congress to prevail on the government to keep to the terms of our agreement. Otherwise, our union should not be held responsible for any disruption in the system.”

2019 UTME Results to be Forwarded to Candidates’ Profile Soon – JAMB

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos, that plans were already in place to forward the results of the 2019 UTME to individual candidate’s online registration profiles where they could view and have such printed.

Benjamin expressed sincere apologies concerning candidates who had challenges accessing their results. He noted that the Board was partnering with the network providers in ensuring quality service in an attempt to forestall such occurrences in its subsequent examinations.

Over 1.3 Million Candidates Have Accessed 2019 UTME Results So Far – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says over 1.3 million candidates have so far accessed their results using the result checker (code), 55019. The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Lagos, while speaking against reports circulating that majority of candidates had yet to access their results through the said code.

He also described as untrue, claims by some mischief makers that the N50 charges incurred through the code was going to the board’s purse.
“I want to refute all these claims as there is no truth in them.
“First and foremost, by our records, over 1.3 candidates who sat for this examination have accessed their results using the code for checking the results, which remains ‘55019’.
“Again, let me also state in clear terms that the N50 charged in the process of checking these results does not go to JAMB’s purse but to the various service providers,” Benjamin said.
According to the spokesman, the clarification became necessary in view of what he described as ‘wicked and malicious rumours’ by some persons that the board is charging a fee for checking of results.
Giving a breakdown of the total number of results checked by candidates through the various network providers, Benjamin noted that MTN had the highest, with a total of 888,598, followed by Glo, with a total of 190,923, while 62,170 candidates had also accessed their results using the 9mobile.
Benjamin said that before now, Airtel had some technical hitches, but thankfully, all such challenges had been addressed. A total of 104, 970 candidates have so far accessed their results via Airtel.

Malpractice: JAMB arrests 123 suspects, parades worker for fraud

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) fielding questions from newsmen.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that the 123 candidates arrested for malpractices during the computer-based test held across the nation are currently standing trial nationwide.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this at the board’s headquarters in Abuja, while parading a staff member of the examination board, Mr Adamu Musa, who allegedly collected N25,000 from an admission seeker in 2018.
Musa was attached to the Information Technology Service of the body.
The registrar said, “He collected N25,000 for admission. So, we are not hiding anything. Even internally, we are doing scrutiny. Anybody caught will be dealt with according to the law.”
Speaking with newsmen, Musa confessed to the crime, adding that he had refunded N10,000 to the admission seeker when the admission did not come through.
He narrated that, “The person came to me for admission and I told him that I knew people who would help. I collected N25,000 from him. But it did not work. So I refunded N10,000. He was the one who reported to the registrar. The person I contacted to assist the admission seeker said they had already closed the admission.
“I apologise and I want JAMB to temper justice with mercy. This is the first candidate I collected money from.”
The punch reported the person who paid Musa N25,000, One Bakare Damilola,  as saying trouble started when the admission did not come through and the JAMB worker refused to refund the money.
He said, “I am not the one seeking admission. I was sent by the father of the candidate involved. I came and explained everything to this man (Musa). I wrote the candidate’s registration number down and he asked me to wait outside. Later, he told me it would involve money.
“The father of the girl, Mr Olaoye, who is based in Lagos State, sent the money to Musa’s account and I have the teller. Mr Olaoye was desperate for the admission of his daughter because she had stayed home for eight years. Eventually, the admission did not come through. We asked Musa to refund the money. He kept postponing and I reported him to the registrar,” he explained.

UNILORIN announces those to get automatic admission

The Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Suleiman Age, on Friday expressed the institution’s readiness to grant admission to athletes who distinguished themselves during the 5th National Youth Games (NYG).
The Vice-Chancellor made the promise while hosting Directors of Sports from 23 states of the federation, as well as other sports stakeholders.
The group and some officials of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development were in Ilorin for a Joint Technical Meeting of the 5th NYG scheduled for September.
"Unilorin s always open to hosting national and international sports competitions and events,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
The Director of Grassroots Sports Development Department, Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Dr Ademola Are, in a speech said the Ministry would continue to play its role in the organisation of the NYG.
The delegates had earlier undertaken an inspection visit to the various venues and accommodation facilities earmarked for the Games.
While reacting, they commended the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development for the sustained hosting of the Games.
They also commended the Vice-Chancellor and management team of University of Ilorin for their hospitality and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Games’ next five editions.
