FUOYE Shut Down Over Students' Protest

The Federal University of Oye Ekiti in Ekiti (FUOYE) has been shut down following protest by the students of the institution.
According to a statement by the Acting Registrar of the institution Oyeyimika Koyejo-Fasakin, this is to forestall a break down of Law and Order.

The Statement noted that prior to the proest by the students, the managemnbt was alkready taking steps to respond to the demands of the students. He mentioned that as a mark of goodwill, the Vice-Chancellor was billed to hold a meeting with the students’ representatives at 13:00 hours on Tuesday, 15th May 2018.

The management also granted a 3-day lecture free period to allow students organise with their parents and guardians as regards their fees.

But disregarding all of these efforts made by the management, some students still deem it fit to cause choas which have the potential to cause a breakdown of law and order.

“It is against this background that the university has been shut down until normalcy is restored to campus.

“Please be informed that the University Management is not insensitive to the plight of students who are yet to fully pay their fees and only dialogue can resolve a matter such as this.

“Lastly, we apologise to all our law-abiding students who are having to contend with the brunt of this episode. The resumption of normal academic activities will be communicated in due course.” He stated.

JAMB Generates Up To N8.5 billion From Sales of 2018 UTME/DE Forms

A top Official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that the board has generated up to N8.453 billion from the sales of forms in 2018.
This revenue came from payments made by 1,602,762 candidates who registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held across the country in March and from registration fees paid by 135, 670.00 Direct Entry (DE) candidates.
At the moment, it is not certain how much the board will be remmiting to the coffers of the Federal Government. But According to the source, it will be close to last years figure which was N7.8 billion.

The source also disclosed that since the arrival of Is-haq Oloyede, a professor, as registrar, JAMB had ceased to request funding from the federal government for its capital and recurrent expenditures.

When contacted Prof. Oleyede confirmed this but refused to make further comments on it

Dr Fabian Benjamin also confirmed the information. He however stated that since JAMB direct entry registration and JAMB Change of Course and institution are still on and with that, the revenue is likely going to be more that it is at the moment.

YABATECH Student Reported Dead After Being Electrocuted

A student of Yaba Colege of Technology (YABATECH) identified as precious Maduka has been reported dead.

The ND 1 student of the Department of Computer Engineering was said to have slumped after being electrocuted by an Air Conditioner attached to one the offices at the back of a Civil Engineering building while having his bath around 6:00 am
He was immediately rushed to the medical centre and later to the Military hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to sources, this is not the first time someone is electrocuted by the Air Conditioner which is usually switched on all the time.

Following this development, the Rector has directed the school's internal secuity officials to ensure no student is allowed to sleep in Classrooms and the school Chapel at night.

Someone may wonder why Precious chose to bath at the back of an office building instead of his hostel. We leant that some of the students sleep in Classrooms due to the accommodation issues in YABATECH.

RIP to the deceased.

Tuition Fees in Federal Universities Illegal - FG

The Federal Executive Council has directed that no federal university should charge tuition fees as the law does not allow such.
This was made known by the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwuka, after the cabinet meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He noted that the council understood that some federal universities charged fees per course unit and said that the government would investigate and stop this.

"Students can pay other auxiliary fees, but not in excess. Various university councils and management should be able to fix what fees students should pay that is affordable and acceptable to the students. That is the position.

Anwuka said the National Universities Commission had been directed to clarify and update the council on the matter.

He mentioned that the Federal Government does not set the fees for private and state universities but has responsibility for fees paid in the Federal universities.

It was learnt that the council also approved the insurance of provisional licence for the the establishment of Skyline University in Kano.

Meet UNILAG Best Graduating Students: Jeffrey Jude, Babawale Oludare Emmanuel & Roy-Layinde Bosun

Three students have emerged as the best gradating students of the university during the 49th Convocation Ceremony of the university
This is the first time a University will be producing 3 best graduating students with CGPA of 4.97.

The three students are; Jeffrey Jude from Edo State he is 21 years old and graduated from the department of Biochemistry. Roy-Layinde Bosun, is equally 21 years Old and graduated from the Department of Chemical engineering. Oludare Babawale is 24 years old and graduated from the department of Chemistry

During a chat with them Jeffrey Jude revealed that he did not have much of social life while on campus and avoided intimate relationship with the opposite sex in order to stay focus on his dream.

The young chap who said he was going to pursue further education (MSc, PhD) is aiming at becoming one of the best Researchers.

He advsied students who wish to acheive the same feat to find out works for them and stick to it.

"The first thing is to know yourself. Everyone is different, so whatever worked for me wouldn't necessarily work for someone else. Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. Love for what you're doing in life can be the greatest motivation you'd ever need and let's not forget about God. Honestly, I don't think I'd have come out with my CGPA with him. No, I wouldn't". He said.

Roy-Layinde Bosun dream from his first year was to graduate with first class. However unlike Jude Jeferey that didn't have much of Social life, Bosun didn't let his first-class dreams hinder his social life. He partied at his free time and is also in a healthy relationship which he got into in his 4th year in the University.

Whie advising other students, he said,“You shouldn’t get moved by the lies of social media, fine yahoo boys with Mercedes; those things don’t last. Face your studies and work super hard. My philosophy about God is “He multiplies not adds” if you have zero, he multiples with 5. So, without your personal work, you’ll still end up with God’s favour, even though he has helped you. So, your biggest fan is yourself, don’t look down on anybody no matter what and if you don’t understand anything, don’t be proud. Always ask”.

Babawale Oludare Emmanuel on the other hand said that his parents wanted him initially to study medicine, but he never saw him self comfortable with the course due to the fact tht he is hemphobia and couldn't withstand the sight of blood and some how the first JAMB exam he took did not work out. So on the 2nd trial he chose chemistry instead.

His academic journey was some how affected duringbhis final year when he was diagnosed of hypertension and Perianal abscess. However, God saw him through the situation. He was said to be hypertensive due to esxcessive reading. He reads all the time. According to him, he feels lazy anytime he isn't reading.

Advising other students, he said, “Success is about incorporating more of smart work than hard work. Smart work entails you following the laws behind having good results which must be hinged on self-discipline and persistence even if the results aren't good from the outset."

Nigeria Considering Adding Extra 1 Year Of Studies For University Graduates Before NYSC

Nigeria is considering a major policy change to its tertiary education that would see graduates go for an extra year of studies.

Anthony Anwukah, the Minister of State for Education, disclosed this on Tuesday at a two-day retreat for governing councils of federal universities in Abuja.
He said this was being considered because many university graduates were not good enough to be employed by industries. He said the proposal was similar to the extra year currently being undertaken by law and medical students.
Anwukah added that the university system has let Nigeria down in the country’s quest for industrial development. He said the universities have failed to produce graduates that meet the needs of the industries.
Personally, i think some graduates truly are unemployable. but instead of adding an extra year, why dont you just restructure our institutes? our curriculum and our method of teaching is highly questionable.....My Take!

After Release of 2018 JAMB Results, What Next? Here's What To Do

We can say that the 2018 JAMB UTME has officially been concluded. While some candidates are counting their gains, others are counting their losses.
Which ever category you fall in, we just want you to know that a high JAMB score is not an automatic ticket to higher institution neither does a low JAMB score automatically disqualify you for admission. We have seen candidates with high JAMB scores who failed to gain admission into any institution and had to retake JAMB and we have equally seen candidates with low JAMB Scores (Less than 200) who gained admission without having to wait for another JAMB.
So basically, a low or high JAMB score is not the ultimate determinant of who gains and who doesn't gain admission.
So at this point, what we expect all 2018 JAMB candidates to do is to ask the following critical questions?
>> What is my school's cut-off mark ?
>> What is the cut-off mark for my intended course of study?
>> Do I need a change of course/institution?
>> What's the school's Post-UTME Screening like?
>> How Can I prepare adequately for my school's Post-UTME Screening?
The answer to these critical questions will help you know what next step to take towards successfully securing admission this year.
And let's quickly tell you this, take off the retarding mindset that you can not go to a polytechnic. Are they for animals?
If going by your score, you stand a better chance of gaining admission in a polytechnic, for goodness sake, change your institution to a polytechnic if you didn't pick one during your JAMB registration. Unless of course you don't mind patronising JAMB next year. And if that is the case, good luck to you!
Meanwhile, do not forget BEST OPTION EDUCATION LEARNING SCHEME will be there for you all through the journey. So ensure you visit regularly or reach us on 08035528553 for updates regarding the 2018/2019 Admission exercise.
Admission Success to you all!

See What A Fresh NCE Graduate Posted Online

A young Nigerian man who just finshed his NCE programme and collected the certificate was quite proud of his achievement and decided to share the good news online.
However, he ended up making people wonder how on earth did he make it through school.

As an NCE Holder, he is a "qualified" teacher. But what would he teach the young ones when himself needs to go back to school to learn the basics of English Language.
Obviously, this is one of the reasons the standard of education in public schools is drastically deteriorating.
