The Police Command in Lagos State has arrested a 48-year-old man suspected to be the operator of a fake West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) examination centre in Igbogbo, Ikorodu.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Edgal Imohimi, said the suspects were arrested on April 25, following a complaint by a senior member of staff of WAEC office, Ogba.
“The complaint was that there exist a fake WAEC centre at El-Supreme Private School located at No. 3, Oseni Adekogbe Street, Igbogbo Ikorodu.

Operatives of the Command attached to Area ‘G’ Ogba, were mobilised to the above address where one Pastor Adeniyi Joshua of El-Supreme Church was arrested.

SS1 Female Stabs Classmate In The Eye For Refusing To Join Cult in Otuoke

This is a terrible report coming from Community Secondary School Otuoke in Bayelsa State, which makes us wonder why students in secondary school decide to join cults. Anyway, here's the story below...
Josephine, a suspected female cultist and her gang members have allegedly damaged the right eye of one Lilian Friday, who is an SS1 student of Community Secondary School Otuoke, Bayelsa State. .
According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday evening. The suspected cultist, also an SS1 student of the same secondary school is said to have been mounting pressure and persuading Lilian to join her cult group, but she declined persistently. .

According to Benson, the victim's uncle, Lilian was attacked late yesterday, while returning from his place. He said Lilian met her classmate on the way and she insisted that she must join her cult group, her persistent refusal provoked the suspect and she vowed to disfigure Lillian's face. .

Consequently, the two classmates started fighting, and then the suspect alerted her gang members, who came along and had the victim held to the ground, stabbed her right eye and then took off. .

Efforts to arrest the suspect have not been successful, as the Otuoke community is yet to grant arrest warrant to the parents of the victim, because it is against their practice for someone to make arrest in the community without the approval of its leadership

University of Ibadan Asks 408 students to Withdraw

About 408 students of the University of Ibadan has been asked to withdraw by the Senate of the university over their poor academic performances and failing to meet the minimum academic requirements.
This decision was taken at the Senate's meeting where results of graduating and non-graduating students were considered and approved.
It was gathered that most of the affected students were admitted to the school during the 2016/2017 acdemic session that post-UTME test was not conducted because of opposition to the exercise.

According to the Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto, the school would not lower its academic standards despite the financial difficulty it currently faces.

“There are minimum academic requirements a student must meet at the end of the session and those who fall short of that would have to leave the university.

He further revealed that the conduct of UI Model of Post-UTME screening has helped to separate men from boys and helped the institution in maintaining its historical standards as a global brand.

“UI has been able to invent its own model of screening applicants and it has shown that those who we screened performed far better than those not subjected to our screening after taking JAMB.” He stated.

Meet A First Class Graduate Who Took JAMB UTME 6 Times

A 26-year-old young man identified as Simon Godwin Idoko, who graduated recently from the Department of Applied Chemistry, Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has revealed how he finally conquered JAMB UTME after taking the exam 6 times to becoming a first Class graduate.
According to him, “I left secondary school in 2007 from Wesley High School, Otukpo where I was awarded the overall best in Mathematics. I took UTME six times before I got admission to study Applied Chemistry. I was initially applying for Medicine and Surgery due to the advice from different people.
“I have never scored below 200 in UTME and the most disappointing time during the period of struggling to get admission was when I scored 264 in UTME and 68 in Post UTME in 2012 but I was not offered admission to study any course.

“The only course I was offered throughout the period of the six years was the course that I studied (Applied Chemistry). It was very frustrating then."

The young man who said he is hoping to start his M.Sc immediately after NYSC revelaed that achieving A First Class is not an easy task as you need to be ready to do what ordinary students cannot do such as spending money on good textbooks, spending more time reading and spending less time on social activities.
