means Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) is an Advanced Level (A'level)
nine months federal government programme run and moderated by Ahmadu Bello
University, ABU Zaria.
IJMB is
an A'level 9 month programme certified by NUC (Nigeria University Commission)
CHECK PAGE 4 OF JAMB BROCHURE, ITEM 2.2(2) TO CONFIRM IJMB AS A REQUIREMENT FOR
UNIVERSITY EDUCATION THROUGH DIRECT ENTRY.
IJMB was setup to serve as an alternative
mode of gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria into 200 level
via Direct Entry (D.E) and majority of Nigerian universities recognize the IJMB
result as a criteria for gaining university admission.
IJMB is a programme many of you must have
heard of through friends, colleagues, family members etc. Hundreds of thousands
of students have gone through the programme since its inception, and have
completed their degree programmes in their chosen universities.

Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) was established in 1976 by the Interim
Common Services Agency (ICSA). ICSA itself was established by the government of
the old Northern Region of Nigeria to provide educational and social services
to the people of the region.

Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE) was first held in 1977
for all students who had undergone the IJMBE post secondary education program
in the existing schools of Basic/ Preliminary studies which had replaced the
HSCE. Presently IJMB now serve as an Advanced Level Examination which guarantee
candidate admission into 200level.

Board is administered by the Institute of Education of Ahmadu Bello University,
Zaria, Nigeria. Other members of the board include representatives of various
education institutions such as Joint Admission Matriculation Board; Federal
University of Technology, Minna.

How to use the IJMB Result to gain admission
The IJMB can be used to gain admission into the 200 level
in any approved Nigerian University.
A candidate wishing to use to result to her admission into
the University must follow these steps:
1. Visit the nearest JAMB office to get the Direct Entry
(DE) form. Alternatively, you can visit the JAMB website and click on the DE
link to get to the required portal.
2. Fill the form on the website or the hardcopy you
bought from the JAMB office.
Make sure the details you provided match your IJMB result.
3. In the form, you have the option of choosing your
preferred university (first option) and an alternate choice (second option).
You are allowed to make up to six choices
The course you chose would be directly related to how well
you perform in the IJMB examination. That is why it is important to choose a
quality study center.
A good IJMB study center combined with hard work and
diligent study would surely guarantee your IJMB result would get you any course
you desire.

Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board, It is an Approved,
Proven & Certified Advanced level programme moderated by the University Of
Lagos and having the coordinating body in various tertiary institutions and
different study centres nationwide. The programme is specifically designed to
provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular
degree programmes in Nigerian Universities for one reason or the other, as the
programme only requires candidates O’level results, JAMB result, Also awaiting

IS Approved: By the Federal Government has a platform for securing admission
into a higher institution in the country and abroad.

more than 70% fraction successfully secure admission with it into 200 level to

HOW
JUPEB WORKS:
Prospective JUPEB candidates are required to select any THREE (3)
A/L JUPEB Subject Combination plus Genel studies (English Language) identified
with their preferred course of study in the university be it Science, Art or
Social Science Course.
Candidates would then be lectured for the stipulated period at their
respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination.
On completion of the programme, successful candidates accordingly utilise their JUPEB certificate to secure admission into 200level in any Nigeria tertiary institution via JAMB.

LEGIBILITY:
JUPEB certificate is presently recognised and accepted in more
than 70% of Nigeria federal, state and all private Universities. Thus,
prospective candidates can check (item 2.2) of JAMB BROCHURE to confirm JUPEB
legibility.

PROGRAMME DURATION:
JUPEB A’level programme runs for a maximum period of
one academic session(9-10month) divided into two(2) semesters.

The programme is open to all interested candidates
nationwide and any course can be offered to be it Science, Art or Social
